Yesterday, November 9th, was a day that I will remember forever. A day that changed everything for me. No, it wasn’t the outcome of the Presidential election, but rather the 18th birthday of my daughter Sierra Wood. A day I have been waiting for it seems, forever. My daughter and I are close, and have this tradition that has been going on since she was 2 years old. I trace her hand in my sketch book, and date it.
This would happen every few months, and i would always tell her “When you’re 18 I will give you a book that has all your traced hands in it so you can see your growth.” Well, that day was yesterday. The week leading up to it, I think I went through all the emotions I have as I thought about my baby girl becoming an adult. I can not tell you how proud I am of her, and the person she has become.
I have seen her go learn the Alto sax, Have the lead 3 years running in the High School musical, become Senior Class President, and apply to colleges both near and far. I could not be more proud.
I just wanted to take this time to tell you, and to let her know how much I LOVE her.
Happy 18th Birthday Sierra.
